About Us

About Us

Launched in March 2016, we are a group of Social Netball Leagues, operating after work leagues in Surrey, North West Kent and East Sussex. Our leagues are for women of all ages, abilities, and ethnicities and the aim of our leagues is for you to come along get fit, make new friends, improve your netballs skills and more importantly have fun doing it!

Here at NETS-HAVEAGAME we have all been involved in the sport for many years, either as umpires, players or coaches, so were very experienced at what we do.

It’s really easy to sign up either as an individual, small group or a full team, and playing netball with us is always a hassle free, and enjoyable experience. All the equipment and umpires are provided at each venue, so all you have to do is turn up and play. New locations are being added all the time so do check our website frequently for new venues/leagues starting up in your local area.

We offer a free bonus introductory ‘Nets-Play Netball’ coaching session at the beginning of each season at new locations. We also offer a prize at the end of each season for the league winners.

We will also run occasional ‘Nets-Play Netball’ coaching and skills sessions at various venues, and inter-location mini tournaments for those players who are keen to improve their skills even further, so keep checking out the website for further details.

  1. What format of the game is played?

We play 7 a side, 4 quarters of 8 minutes per game, with a short interval after each game.Teams need to have a minimum of 7 players and a maximum of 10 players and they are allowed to have rolling substitutions at quarter time intervals.

All games are played to All England Netball Association rules. We operate a league format whereby each team will play each other a set amount of times, according to the season length. At the end of the season the team which accumulates the most points wins the league that season. Seasons will be on a consecutive back to back basis, except for December when we will have a break for the Christmas holidays.

  1. I haven’t played netball since school – will I still be able to play?

Yes for sure, we welcome players of all ages, and abilities, and our aim is to encourage and provide an opportunity for women who haven’t played netball for a while to get back on to the court. We welcome complete beginners as well, and you’ll be amazed at how quickly you’ll learn the game and pick up the skills you need, and there will be lots of other players in the same position as you, so come and join the fun!

Please find our handy ‘Find your position’ section to see what position would suit you best.

  1. Do I have to wear a netball kit?

No, you don’t have to wear any special kit to play social netball; you just need to have a good pair of trainers and some comfortable clothing to play in and off you go!

  1. When are the matches played?

Matches are played in the evenings between 7-9pm, and start times rotate each week. Please see individual league locations for more details, and fixtures and results will be published on the website.

  1. How long will a season run for?

Our seasons usually run for 10 weeks, but please see individual league locations for more details, as they may vary because of venue restraints.

  1. How much does the season cost?

This would vary according to whether or not the venue is indoors or outside, and the season length. Please see individual league locations for more details.

  1.  Will I need any netball equipment?

No, none at all as bibs and balls are all provided at the venue, you just turn up and play. But don’t forget your drink for hydration!

  1. Do I have to provide an umpire?

No, all umpires are provided at each venue.

  1. I have got a team together what do I do now?

Please go to our ‘Join a league’ section to register your team. Follow the instructions and away you go! Teams with the minimum number of players (7) at first registration, can add additional players up to the maximum number (10) before and during the season, at no extra cost. All new players must be registered with NETS-HAVEAGAME, before taking part so just email us your new players details and we’ll add them into your team

  1. I don’t have a team to play for!

That’s no problem, you can sign up as an individual player, and we will put you in a team. Please go to our ‘Join a league/Sign up and play’ section to register as an individual. Follow the instructions and away you go.

  1. What if I want to join with a group of friends but we don’t have enough for a full team?

That’s no problem either, each of you need to sign up as individual players, then once you have all registered, one of you just needs to drop us an email at:, and let us know your group of friends names, and we will ensure you are all put on the same team.

  1. What do we do if we can’t get a full team out each week?

Teams must commit to fielding a team every week, and there will be a points deduction if you have to forfeit. However, we will do our best to ensure this doesn’t happen as you will be able to use our Facebook page to request ‘Ringers’ (stand in players from another team who would like to play an extra game that week). If all else fails, we will endeavour to give an impromptu coaching session to those players who turn up and till want some netball. Please see our League Rules for details.

  1. What methods of payment do you accept?

You can pay your fees by PayPal, do an online transfer directly into our account, or send at cheque to the address given on the registration form.

  1. What happens after I have completed the registration?

We will contact you within 1 working day to acknowledge your registration and your place in the league will be confirmed on receipt of your fees. One week before the league starts we will contact you again to give you your team details, and any other relevant information you may need to know.
